Linden NJ is a city in Southeastern Union County that sits on an 11.2 square miles with a populace of 41,173 in the year of 2007. Linden is situated at about 20 miles southwest of downtown Manhattan and about 8.3 miles west of Staten Island, NY. Linden was originally formed as a township on March 4, 1861 from portions of Elizabeth, Rahway, and Union Township. Linden was incorporated by an Act of the NJ Legislature on January 1, 1925.
Elizabeth city of Union, originally called Elizabethtown, is New Jersey forth largest city with a populace of over 126,000. Elizabeth was founded in 1664 by the english settlers and was name for the wife of Sir George Carteret not Queen Elizabeth I as many people assume. Elizabeth was the first capital of the state of New Jersey.
